Investment Criteria

NEL Capital invests in businesses capable of significant growth, led by experienced and committed management teams who are able to articulate the investment opportunity through a carefully reasoned business plan. We will invest up to £500,000 and in some circumstances can provide larger amounts through internal and external syndication.

We cannot advise on a suggested business plan format, however, we can recommend ‘ A Guide to Private Equity’ which contains a business plan template and can be viewed on the British Venture Capital Associations website on their Publications / Research section: www.bvca.co.uk

In addition the above all businesses approaching us must:

- be a small and medium sized business;

be located in the North East of England (i.e. within the counties of Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Durham and Tees Valley)

require finance for one of the following;

- Early Stage Development Capital
- expansion and development capital
- management buy-outs and buy-ins
